Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-07-05.
Short version: Copaky does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any data from the app or keyboard extension. Everything stays on your device. This Privacy Policy applies to Copaky for iOS, including the keyboard extension and the companion app.
Who we are
Copaky is a privacy-focused Japanese keyboard for iOS with an offline clipboard manager. It is an independent, open-source project built on azooKey (MIT).
Controller / operator: Copaky is maintained by Vittorio Villani, an independent open-source developer based in Italy. Contact: vittoriovillani@gmail.com.
Data we collect
App data: None. Copaky does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or track any data from the app or keyboard extension. There are no analytics, telemetry, advertising, or tracking SDKs; we operate no servers that receive your data, and the app declares Data Not Collected.
Support emails. If you contact us by email, we will receive your email address and any information you choose to include. We use it only to respond to you, handle the request, and keep necessary records. We do not use support emails for analytics, advertising, or tracking.
Legal bases, where applicable
Copaky does not process app data on our servers. For support emails, we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to requests and maintaining the project, and on legal obligations where applicable.
What you type
Text input and Japanese conversion are processed entirely on your device by the bundled, offline conversion engine. Keystrokes are never logged, stored for us, or transmitted.
Clipboard history
- stored only on your device, in the app's private App Group container;
- captured only on an explicit action by you (otherwise only metadata — that the clipboard changed — is read, never the value);
- never captures secure / password fields;
- never transmitted anywhere;
- automatically deleted after 7 days, and you can clear it at any time.
Your privacy rights
Because Copaky stores clipboard history only on your device, we cannot access, export, correct, or delete that on-device data for you. You can delete it in the app or by uninstalling the app. For support emails, you may request access, correction, or deletion by contacting us. If GDPR applies to you, you may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Full Access
Copaky may request Apple's "Full Access" permission only to enable features such as keyboard haptics and pasting from the keyboard. It does not use Full Access to transmit keystrokes, clipboard contents, identifiers, analytics, or any other data. The keyboard remains usable without Full Access, though those features may be unavailable.
Network & third parties
Copaky makes no network requests — neither the keyboard extension nor the companion app. Dictionary data is bundled and used offline; custards (custom tabs) are imported from local files only. Copaky does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, crash-reporting, or telemetry SDKs that receive app data, and no third party receives data from the app or keyboard extension. Copaky includes open-source components and dictionary data under their respective licenses; see the in-app Acknowledgements screen.
Apple App Store
Copaky is distributed through the Apple App Store only. Apple may process App Store, Apple ID, payment, download, crash, or device information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Copaky does not receive app data from the keyboard or companion app.
California privacy notice
We do not sell or share personal information, use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or collect sensitive personal information through Copaky. We do not discriminate against users for exercising privacy rights.
Children
Copaky is not directed specifically to children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children. Because the app does not transmit app data off-device, children's app data is not collected by us.
Retention
Clipboard history is automatically deleted after 7 days and can be cleared manually at any time. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to respond and maintain project records, unless a longer period is required by law.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date.
